901STEM is a Memphis-based nonprofit working to expand access to hands-on STEM learning for students and schools across the Memphis area.
We believe students learn best when they can build, test, explore, and discover for themselves. Our work focuses on making STEM more accessible by empowering educators, providing classroom resources, creating student-centered learning experiences, and building community partnerships that connect students with meaningful STEM opportunities.

We believe meaningful impact doesn’t always require creating something new. 901STEM works to strengthen successful programs, connect educators and students with existing resources, and identify unmet needs where we can make a difference. When something is already working, we look for ways to amplify it. When a meaningful gap exists, we look for ways to help fill it.
What We Do
901STEM works with educators, schools, and community partners to provide:
- Hands-on STEM workshops and student learning experiences
- Classroom-ready STEM kits, activities, and educator resources
- Monthly $1,000 901STEM Spark Grants that help schools and educational organizations bring new STEM tools, materials, and experiences to their students
- Community outreach that introduces students to STEM, technology, and creative problem-solving
- Partnerships that strengthen existing STEM programs and expand access to new opportunities
We are beginning with pilot programs designed to learn, improve, and grow thoughtfully. By working closely with educators, we can better understand what students and classrooms need before expanding our reach.
Who We Serve
901STEM serves students and educators across the Memphis area, with particular attention to learners and communities facing barriers to meaningful STEM opportunities. We work across school systems and learning environments, including traditional classrooms, specialized and alternative-learning settings, and community-based programs.
Why It Matters
STEM can feel distant or intimidating when students only hear about it in theory. But when they build a robot, test a circuit, solve a design problem, or see an idea come to life, STEM becomes real.
Those moments can spark confidence. They can help students see themselves as builders, problem-solvers, creators, and future technologists. These experiences can build skills, open doors to future educational and career opportunities, and help young people imagine possibilities they may not otherwise have considered.
901STEM exists to create more of those moments.
Our Status
901STEM is a Tennessee nonprofit corporation and a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) public charity, EIN 42-2734134. We are building school and community partnerships, piloting programs, and developing the resources and relationships needed to expand our impact thoughtfully across the Memphis area.
