Preparing for STEM Night

What does it take to turn four familiar experiments into a meaningful STEAM experience for approximately 50 students?

Next week, the 901STEM team will facilitate four hands-on stations:

• Elephant Toothpaste
• Iodine Clock
• Volcano Chemistry
• Foil Boat Engineering

Behind each activity is careful preparation: testing procedures, organizing materials, planning for safety and developing explanations that work for both younger and older students.

The goal isn’t simply to produce a dramatic reaction or build a successful boat. We want students to ask questions, make predictions, test ideas and understand what happened.

Accessible hands-on learning may look simple at the table—but thoughtful preparation is what makes it safe, welcoming and meaningful.

We’re excited to put everything we’ve been preparing into action next week.
